In the center of the village of Kandia and signposted from the through-road there is a deserted tower-house, slowly falling into pieces. Also called the "Tower of the Aga", as it was the residence of an Aga (Turkish rank for the chief) of the region, but the time of its construction is uncertain. The ground-plan of the two-storeyed building is that of a "T" where part of the main facade has collapsed. |

Not far from the tower is a sign promising a "Mycenean Akropolis" - but when you undertake the effort to climb the hill there is nothing but a chapel on the top. Maybe some remains in the valley, who knows. At least there are nice views from the hill. |
